Abrasive Wheel

Our Abrasive Wheel training, based in Peterborough, was created to offer clear and comprehensive information. Over half of accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to the wrong type of fitted wheel. A competent person should only fit wheels. Whilst using an abrasive wheel, the most dangerous part is changing the wheel; if this is done incorrectly, wheels can shatter and burst to cause severe injury or, in an extreme case, death.

Altta’s Abrasive Wheel training shows how to safely install abrasive wheels, correctly store them, and select them, ensuring the abrasive wheels are up to industry standards. Our abrasive wheel training has been designed who those who have to use abrasive wheels throughout their work. It is a legal requirement under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 (PUWER) that all staff who use abrasive wheels receive abrasive wheels training in the safe use of the equipment and changing of abrasive wheels.

The instructor will use the equipment supplied by the company. It is the company’s responsibility to ensure the machine is within inspection dates, has the relevant paperwork and is in total working order. The company is to provide the candidate has the correct PPE, which means minimum grade B goggles or face shields. There should be a suitable area for the theory element of the course to be taught. Our Abrasive wheel course is an in-house training course that meets all relevant standards. Our course involves a practical assessment of fitting a wheel to demonstrate your learning and a theory test at the end.
